A lot of people prefer Linux and Windows together to successfully use strong sides of both of these operating systems. But as it often happens, the two opponents have a real communication problem based on differences between Linux file systems and NTFS. Introducing its own file system, Microsoft deprived Linux community of the right to enjoy full read/write NTFS support. By presenting driver for Linux that enables NTFS support, Paragon Software overcomes incompatibility of the two opposing operating systems. Features and limitations

With Paragon’s unique driver installed your Linux gets the following NTFS features support:

• Support for 64 bit Linux (for the respective binary modules);
• Support for all versions of the NTFS file system including Vista volumes;
• High performance (comparable to Ext2FS);
• Support for SMP kernels (for the respective binary modules);
• Unlimited file/partition size;
• Support for Chinese, Japanese and other Linux localizations;

Current limitations of the driver include the following:

• Encrypted files are not supported. Body of file is copied encrypted with loss of decryption capability.
• When copying from NTFS to Linux FS all additional streams are not copied, along with compression flag and security attributes.

Future Directions

We are planning to release new versions of our Linux driver with additional utilities for NTFS (e.g. format, defrag, check, etc). Binary modules for other Linux distributions will be laid out on this site soon. It depends on your needs, which you can express on our community forum.
